Raccoons tear through soffits, roof vents and the joint where two roof lines meet. In spring a female may have kits in the attic, usually born between about March and June. Sealing her out while the kits are inside leads to more damage and dead animals in the house.
We inspect first. If there are young, they are removed by hand and placed in a warmed box beside the one-way door so the mother can move them herself. Then the entry is fitted with a one-way door and the rest of the roof is screened with galvanized mesh fastened to solid wood.
